Your Giving Account Can Feed a Neighbor… Here’s How

invest in humanity

Every week, our volunteers are out in the Lehigh Valley rescuing food, redistributing goods, and making sure families have what they need. Last month, we rescued 11,573 pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste.

That kind of impact takes a village — and it takes resources. If you have a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you may already be sitting on a powerful, flexible way to support work like ours. Here’s everything you need to know.

What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A Donor-Advised Fund is like a charitable savings account. You contribute money (or other assets like stocks or cryptocurrency) to a sponsoring organization, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to nonprofits of your choosing — now or over time.

Think of it as a giving account that stays ready until you decide where it should go.

The best part? The funds can grow tax-free while you decide. And recommending a grant to a nonprofit like iHave iNeed takes just a few minutes online.

Can I Give to iHave iNeed Through My DAF?

Yes! iHave iNeed is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means we are an eligible recipient for grants from any IRS-qualified Donor-Advised Fund.

To recommend a grant, you’ll typically need our:

  • Legal name: iHave iNeed Inc
  • Federal Tax ID (EIN): 92-1162369
  • Mailing address: 5507 Skyline Dr., Schnecksville, PA 18078

The Major DAF Providers — and How to Give Through Them

🔵 Fidelity Charitable

One of the largest DAF sponsors in the country, Fidelity Charitable’s “Giving Account” has no minimum contribution requirement and allows donors to search for charities by name or Tax ID. If you have a Fidelity Giving Account, you can log in and recommend a grant to iHave iNeed in just a few clicks.

New in 2026: Tax legislation now allows donors who claim the standard deduction to take an additional above-the-line deduction for direct charitable gifts — another reason to make your DAF work for you this year.

🌐 National Philanthropic Trust (NPTrust)

🏘️ Your Local Community Foundation

Many donors have DAFs through their local community foundation rather than a national provider. If you’re in the Lehigh Valley, organizations like the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation can help you direct your philanthropic giving to local nonprofits — including iHave iNeed. Community foundations often offer personalized guidance and deep knowledge of local needs.

Why Now?

New tax legislation taking effect in 2026 creates additional incentives for charitable giving — including a new above-the-line deduction for donors who don’t itemize. If you’ve been meaning to activate your DAF or are considering opening one, this is a great year to do it.

And for our community right here in the Lehigh Valley — the need is year-round. Every pound of food rescued, every water delivery made, every family served happens because people like you choose to act.

Ready to Give Through Your DAF?

It’s easy. Just log into your giving account, search for iHave iNeed, and recommend a grant. If you need our EIN or mailing address, reach out to us directly — we’ll get back to you quickly.

And if you’re not sure whether you have a DAF, ask your financial advisor. You might be surprised.
